As title, I just inspired by anime episode and hope to learn. Do you all think is possible to learn online? Anyone of you has tried and succeed? How long do you think would it takes to master the language?
Emm, many of them inspired me, such as
1) Rosario and Vampire
2) Seto_no_Hanayome ( about mermaid )
3) One piece
4) They are my noble masters
I really admire Japan anime, just so different with others.

i’ve seen people succeed by completely studying online. ive also seen people succeed when they combine online with books. thats how a few of my friends did it.
i know someone who studied at LEAST 2 hours a day, usually more, and got conversational by 3 years. by the first year he could already communicate normally, you know, enough to survive if he were suddenly dropped in japan. but 2 hours can be a lot of time and it would take a lot of dedication.
as to learning online, japanesepod101 is a good site. it’s really helpful though personally i dont like it cuz of the guys voice D:
pimsleurs japanese is good too. you can usually find it at a library. many people recommend rosetta stone. i havent used it, but it might be worth a try. you can memorize 2 of the writing systems (the kana) by simply looking it up on google images. there isnt really anything that will help you learn that. when it comes to learning the kanji (the REALLY hard characters. there are like 50,000 of them even though only about 3500 are commonly used) you can use ultimate japanese, though you’d probably have to buy it somewhere, or you can find a lot of good resources online, too. "a guide to remembering the kanji" was a book i liked, though it could be boring for most people.
if you like anime you might like manga, so "japanese in mangaland" could be a really good book that helps you do all those things (read, speak, read and write). ive heard other people like "japanese the manga way". genki is a great book as well, thats my personal favorite.
i know you said online and that a lot of my resources are books. just think about it, though… a lot of people "obtain" their resources online xD i prefer having the actual copies, though. you can take them anywhere and not feel guilty about having stolen anything.
so yeah, it’s possible online if you know just where to look. i had loads more online resources but i recently cleared my bookmarks so other than japanesepod101, the bottom 2 are the only ones i can currently offer. do a bit of googling, though. i found loads of good ones out there, even one where it was specifically aimed at teaching you to specifically understand anime.
you can also find some lessons on youtube. there are episodes of shows that teach you japanese. some are ridiculously boring, but incredibly helpful. you could look around there too.
out of curiosity, what anime show encouraged you to learn?
